Body Bridge
Create an artwork (one object, collaborative) that exists as an extension of two bodies, which bridges the space between them via a
sculptural/architectural/corporeal supplement. Use your own bodies/selves as a starting point and work towards each other. Consider aspects of identity, culture, and form. Incorporate a kinetic or moving aspect within the structure of the object, and consider how you will interact interact with your body bridge in a way that
significantly alters your experience of it.

Form? Function? Metal Sculpture crit 4/3
In the documentary Objectified, designers discussed the interrelated concepts of form and function. Using the bending, cutting and welding techniques you have learned, make a functional object not more than 4 feet in any direction, using the provided steel. You may take one of two approaches. Your aesthetic and structural choices can be dictated by the object's function, or those same decisions can subvert the object's function.

Metal Sculpture Workshop
We are going to go over the use and safety of the 110 MIG welder, and the various grinders in the shop.

http://www.mig-welding.co.uk/power-settings.htm
Study the above tutorials. Before you start welding anything useful, spend an hour or two getting to know the welder. Practice on the recycled flat stock in the welding shop. Vary the power settings and wire speeds so you can tell what happens when the settings are wrong as well as when they are right. Try over and over until you can get a good weld.

Select two or more objects that, when combined, will read as a new object with a completely different meaning, sort of like a mashup. Let the materials, forms, lines, colors and materials you use speak about your concept.
The piece should roughly take up the same amount of volume as your body.

Think of an aspect of your personality that may not be readily apparent to people. Your challenge is to create a sculpture that represents that concept without illustrating it, using found or ready-made objects combined together to form a hybrid sculpture. It is not enough to simply glue several objects together. Think about how you can creatively disassemble the initial objects, and then recombine the parts to make a new object.
